Research On Landscape Planning And Design Of Waterfront Spaces In Southern Fujian Coastal Towns

As a crucial part of town public area,waterfront spaces play a very important role in economic development and citizens’ daily life.More and more attention are paid to the landscape planning and design of small towns,while most of the theory systems are based on city areas,which has much better infrastructure conditions than small towns.Because of this,it becomes necessary to study the waterfront spaces landscape planning of small towns.Based on existing research and practices,the factors which could affect the waterfront spaces may vary.But the essential parts are natural resource and human factors.Natural resource forms the spaces,while human factors creates the programs and characters.Taking the waterfront space of Xike Town in Xiamen City,which is a typical coastal district in Fujian Province,as an example,it differs from normal ones for having special natural resource and human factors.Domestic theories are not sufficient to guide the plan,so foreign ideas are introduced to analyze the project.3 core problems are founded:1.How to balance the fast growing economic development and safe demanding of the urban ecological framework.2.How to coordinate ecological recovering and dynamic refreshment of waterfront spaces.3.How to achieve the goal to protect natural and cultural resource,as well as to create identical city image.Thinking about the above 3 problems,and combining practical experiences in recent years and study method and strategy,the writer is hoping to give an appropriate model of the waterfront spaces in the Xike Town.
