In this paper, the new energy-saving pumping units and their level of technology in domestic and international oilfield were analyzed, a design of the reel-pumping unit was proposed, a type selection and design of WCYJG 12-06-18-Z-type roll-pumping unit was studied. The major works done are as follows:A comparative analysis of the advantages and disadvantages between beam pumping unit and various new-type energy-saving pumping unit was done in connection with the specific requirements of present pumping units of our country. The work principle and fixing scheme of energy-saving roll-pumping unit were proposed. And the basic parameters of roll-pumping unit were determined. The type-selection design and strength check of the main components of WCYJG 12-06-18-Z roll-pumping unit, including balance box, roll, wire rope, crown wheels, moving to make way institutions, tower frame, etc., were done. The 3-D models of the main components were established by Solid works software. The finite element analysis and calculation of tower were done by Ansys software. The motion and dynamic mechanical analyses of roll-pumping unit were done. The variation and mathematical expression of suspended displacement, velocity, acceleration velocity of pumping unit during the working process were obtained. And the variation of suspend point load during up and down stroke was calculated. In addition, the dynamometers of the roll-pumping unit were obtained. According to the control requirements of roll-pumping unit, the control system of roll-pumping unit based on the programmable logic controllers and inverter was determined. The control system can meet the requirements of non-adjustable stroke length and up and down stroke speed separate control, and can achieve automation and intelligent control. The comprehensive evaluation index of pumping unit was determined. The weighting coefficients of different evaluation index were obtained by Analytic Hierarchy Process method. The comprehensive evaluation of roll-pumping unit was carried out by fuzzy assessment method. Theoretical analysis shows that, WCYJG 12-06-18-Z roll-pumping unit is a simple structure, safe and reliable, maintenance convenient, new energy-saving pumping unit, which stroke length and speed can be flexibly adjusted. This has important theoretical and practical value for the development of domestic oilfield.
