With the development of economy, Chinese labor cost is gradually increasing nowadays. As a labor-intensive industry, garment production is facing a huge challenge that many foreign fashion brands have already begun to shift production to those countries more backward. Therefore, China has to improve the production efficiency and reduce the production costs of garment production industry. Suit production line is one of the highest technical lines for its professional skill, complex process, various equipment, difficult tissue balance and high specialization. Currently, suit production process data is being collected by hand mainly which leads to low efficiency, poor reliability, not in time, unshared information and etc. To solve these problems, suit line urgently needs to strengthen the timely control of the products processing, plant production situation and the operating balance.First of all, this paper analyzed and summarized the organization form, process data, operating balance and production line management of the suit line through lots of live research and relevant literature review. With the starting point of garment production line design, an efficient method of random search and optimization---- genetic algorithm was used to balance the suit line operating (for a single product). After obtaining the performance, operating time, processing equipment of each process step, the writer established the mathematical model of suit production line operating balance. And the network task flow graph of suit production technique was established in order to express the order relation between the suit operation processes more clearly. Based on mathematical models and task graph, the paper designed and wrote the computer procedure of coding and decoding through Matlab software, which accomplished the suit production lines operating balance with selection, crossover and mutation of genetic algorithm. And the effectiveness and advancement of this algorithm was confirmed through a practical example.Furthermore, the wireless radio frequency identification technology (RFID) was applied to suit production line management in this paper. After briefly description of the RFID related technologies, the writer focused on the necessity and feasibility analysis of RFID technology applying in the suit production management, then proposed a production line management system plan. Firstly, the overall framework and functional model of the system were analyzed and designed, and secondly, the data acquisition, order management and staff management and other key functional modules were all designed in detail. On the Microsoft visual studio 2008 platform, the paper used Microsoft SQL Server 2005 as database, developed the suit production line management prototype system based on RFID technology, and then introduced the main features of the system, implementation process and the running instance.The innovations in this study are as follows:(1) improving the suit production line operating optimization balance by using genetic algorithm with a good result; (2) using RFID technology to develop a suit production line management prototype system, which could provide not only the real-time underlying data of suit workshop for production management to increase the transparency of production, but also the real-time dynamic data of the suit operating balance to timely adjust the actual bottlenecks process and improve production efficiency. The digital management of the suit production line could provide reliable support for the real-time monitoring and production capacity assessment of the suit production progress, which is conducive to suit workshop production line management automation.
