ObjectiveTo investigate and analyze airborne particulate matter (PM10) pollution and its effection on respiratory system diseases in three cites of Henan province.MethodsAccording to the monitoring data of Enviroment Protection Bureau of Henan province,3 cities A, B and C were selected as Medium, Low and No-polluted cities base on the PM10 pollution in the air. During Feb.2006, Positive rates of respiratory diseases symptoms in two weeks (PRRSS), incidence of respiratory system diseases in two weeks (IRSD) and incidence of chronic respiratory system diseases in half year (ICRSD) were surveyed in questionnare randomly selected populations in 3 cities.ResultsThe average centration of PM10 in the air in A, B, and C cities were 0.174mg/m3, 0.131 mg/m3and 0.088 mg/m3, average centration of SO2 were 0.070mg/m3,0.127 mg/m3 and 0.027 mg/m3. atmosphere pollution index of city A, B, and C were 3.52, 4.13,1.68, the air quality standard 4,4,2. PRRSS in A, B, and C three cities were 8.4%,6.3% and 5.7%, respectively, IRSD in three cities were 13.1%,9.3% and 7.8%, respectively. ICRSD were 5.8%,4.0% and 3.2%.ConclusionPRRSS, IRSD and ICRSD exhibit escalating trend with the aggravating of PM10 pollution in the air (P<0.05).With the rising of PM10 centration, the prevalence rate of people's respiratory diseases ascended significantly in three cities.
