With the rapid development of metallurgical industry in recent years, although large-scale cold rolling mill in China has reached as many as 48, but the research of dust control measure in the head of continual horizontal-type acid pickling unit is very few. The presence of a large number of dust in the head of horizontal continuous pickling line, not only seriously polluted the working environment for workers, causing some damage to their physical and psychological, but also cause serious wear and tear to the surrounding equipment, and take some hidden dangers in the production of the strip.A spurt and suction technique used to collect the iron oxide scales which fell off the cold-rolled strip surface has been invented by studying with the actual situation in the field of The Second Cold Rolling Mill of Wuhan Iron and carrying out the performance test and analysis on the dust removal system. The incompact iron oxide scale is removed by high speed air-flow produced from the nozzle, then attracted by a suction cover.The study combined with the static experiment performing in the mock field shows that the spurt and suction device in the nozzle selection depends on the scene circumstances. We used the different mounting angle of the nozzle in the experiment found that when the nozzle angle was0°~5°, the effect of dust blowing is the best. In order to verify whether there is a deviation of the experimental results, we used the CFD technology and the SST k-ωturbulence model, analyzed the complex flow field simulation in the unit, found that the simulation and experimental results are consistent. It provides a theoretical basis for the practical work.Depending on the basis of the experiment and simulation, we put out a reformed project according to the actual situation of The Second Cold Rolling Mill of Wuhan Iron. After producing and settling, the working effect is obvious: the removal efficiency has been increased significantly and the on-site contamination has been controlled well.
