As numerical control machining technology becomes mature and popular, NC programming technology is also making its way forward, but there are still a lot of manufacturing enterprises whom are searching ways for producing more reliable and efficient NC programs in a relatively shorter time, because of customers'demands of more and more shorter products manufacturing process and higher products quality and reliability. In this thesis, to meet the demand of an enterprise, the author gives full summarizing and analyzing to the welding jig and checking fixture base machining process, and then developing a Base CAM System which do the work of computing tool path of various kinds of machining operations, producing NC codes automatically, and post process the NC code, etc.The developing work of this Base CAM System is supported by the UG manufacturing module, and it is using UG OPEN/API and C/C++ as the main tool. The system has integrated the function of tool path computing, tool path post processing and shop document producing, which makes the NC programming work highly automatic and intelligent, and reduce by a big amount the time and fault of the NC code. The system is also proved to be efficient after being put into use in the enterprise.The main structure of this article is as followed:The first chapter gives an introduction of the NC programming technology: its history, its current level and its developing trend; and also, this chapter introduces the source of the thesis, and the importance and key points in it.The second chapter deals with tools and languages that are used to develop the system.The third chapter is about the manufacturing resources in the enterprise on base machining, mainly the machining process and the NC programming workflow.The fourth chapter talks about the structure and module of the Base CAM system, which falls into four modules: preprocessing module, tool path computing and generating module, post processing module and shop document producing module.The fifth chapter gives a detailed description about the Base CAM system, mainly about the algorithm and some key functions.In the last chapter, the author sums up the research work that has been done in this thesis, and at the same time, describes the remaining problem of the developing work of the Base CAM system.
