China is a mechanical manufacturing great country, but its equipment level falls behind. It is the trend to reform and promote the old equipment with modern technology. This paper is to carry out numerical reform towards a discard CA6140 lathe. Through which people can seek out a viable and valuable method of equipment reforming so that it can solve the problems owing to the out-dated equipments.A numerical design about machine tool basing on guangzhou numerical control system has brought out in this paper. The point problems are altering of mechanic, electric, PLC control and compensation technology.After using the guangzhou numerical control system to reform CA6140, It lowers labor strength, raises rate of production. Through test the lathe reached industry standard and the system work steadily.
