Our country is the biggest tool machine consuming country in the world.Currently, theownship of tool machine is very big,but the structure is fall behind, these machine serves longtime with slowly update. the NC technology has deeply developed, the rat of using NC systemhas improved, but there is big a gap to compare with developed countries. To improve the ratof using NC system in our country which has so many tool machines,it is impossible toachieve by purchasing new NC machines.Hence the thesis discuss another program of theCNC transformation with considering our country’s specific situationThe research focus on updating a old lathe which NC system basically scrapped but theMechanical part still works to a Practical CNC lathe which Featured, high-precision and highefficiency. The thesis also focus on a new way to update old lathe, By this method,the oldlathe can work again and achieve good economic and social benefits.This paper illustrates the transformation process. Transformation of CNC machine tools,mainly from two aspects of the mechanical and electrical. Since the mechanical part of the oldlathe is in good condition, So the mechanical part just need to make the appropriateadjustments, repair and maintenance, replacement of wearing parts. The electrical part is thefocus of this thesis. The research work includes the following aspects: The thesis designed thetransformation of the overall scheme of CNC lathe, also selected the NC system type. Thisthesis also discussed some methods to improve the precision of the CNC lathe tool,such as byadjusting the machine part of the gap, using semi closed loop servo control system toreplace the original open loop servo system, using numerical control system of pitch errorcompensation function on the lead screw pitch error compensation By transforming Steppingdrive system into the servo drive system, the speed range of feed system of CNC lathe toolwas Widen, the original problem of poor quality of high-speed processing was sloved, andthe machining efficiency was improved. By testing the geometric precision, accuracy andprecision of the reformed CNC lathe tool,it Shows that the improved CNC lathe tool inperformance, precision and the production efficiency was improved..Reference to the domestic and foreign advanced experience in the course of the study.consider the actual situation of the user, optimized the machine parameters, Finallycommissioning and acceptance of the machine. After six months of running verify. confirmthe transformation to restored the old CNC functions, the machining accuracy meet therequirements, reached the goal of transformation.
