As a unique culture, school uniforms act a role in the representation of economy, education, civilization and faith of a country and a region. The paper analyzed the history and present of foreign countries school uniforms, found out the cultural origins and the specific characteristics in different countries about school uniforms. The paper also made a thorough listing of the design, wearing motivation and the present condition of school uniforms in China. Compared with school uniforms in foreign countries, the author found out the gap and inadequacy of school uniforms in China, and there is an urgent necessity of study and design. By an analysis of physical and mental conditions of pupil and middle school students, combine with the questionnaire, find out the students'attitude to the school uniform, and put forward the essential factors of design in style, color, material and accessories of school uniforms in allusion to the different needs and suggestions of the students. At last the paper also advanced the future trend of school uniforms, is to set up the brand consciousness of school uniforms, to enhance the quality of school uniforms, and to popularize school uniforms as a unique culture.
