Analysis On Somatotype And Prototype Creation Of Boys Of 6-9years Old In Liaoning Province

Along with the development of the clothing industry and the advancing ofthe society, the demands for the comfort and fit of clothing are increasing. Asthe quality of human life improving, the body figures undergo constantchange. Child is no exception. The sizing system for adults' wear cannot beadopted for children's wear. The situation is that it is difficult to choose asuitable garment for a child. To solve such problems, this research project wasestablished.Since China is of vast territory and densely populated, the populationneeds to be subdivided by regions, sexes, and ages to make the researchfeasible. The bodies of 495 boys from the Liaoning province were measured.Statistics analysis and categorical research were carried out the collected data.There were provided some reasonable suggestions for revising the sizingstandards of children's wear and useful references for product developmentand marketing of clothing.The descriptive statistics, covariance, one-sample T test, one-wayANOVA, classify analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis, etc. werecarried out on the data by using the SPSS package. The figure features of theboys of 6-9 year-old from the Liaoning province were drawn out, in terms ofthe relationship between the sitting height, arm length, chest girth, waist girth,and hip girth, and age and height, and the difference between figures of boysfrom urban and rural areas. Moreover, the boys' figures were classified intothree types: A, H and AH according to the difference between the hip girth and the waist girth, and the ratio of the hip girth to the waist girth. The middlebody of each type was determined, and the 5.2 series sizes of boys' wear werealso built up. Finally, the prototype for boys' wear was established.The novelty of this research is that the suggestion to classify the bodyfigures of boys based on the measurement carried out on the boys from northChina was presented, and the reference for adding items of figure types to thesizing standards for children's wear was provided. The established prototypefor boys' wear will be useful for the personalization, diversification and goodfitness in boys' wear design.
