This paper completely discussed the present status of restaurant waste water pollution and the great influence of which on national economy, people's health and environmental safety and quality, pointed out that it was necessary and urgent to treat restaurant waste water. Through the analyses of domestic and foreign research of treatment to problems of restaurant waste water treatment technology, proposed the necessity and realistic signification to adopt the gravity and coalescence techniques in restaurant waste water.At present, the method of oil waste water treatment contain activity sludge process, rotating biological disc process, biological contact oxidation process, electrochemistry process, coagulation, and so on. There are lots of successes examples, but most of them have some shortcoming, such as craft complex, the high cost and demand of management strict, and so on.Through the experiment, study the effect of the working Parameter which contain the depth of packed bed, velocity of the flow and diameter of the packing material. Besides, consideration of the economical factor, the Parameter was taken as follow: the depth of packed bed is 80cm, velocity of the flow is 0.30~0.40cm/s, and the diameter of packing material is 0.06~0.10cm .On the basis of quality and quantity of restaurant waste effluent, the gravity and coalescence separator is designed. With the principle of hydraulic shrink and magnify theory, the measurements of the separator are calculated and designed. The performance of the oil removing system is studied by experiments. The waste water for experiment was taken from a restaurant in the city of Wuhan. The value of oil in this sewage is about 400~700mg/L, and the value of COD is about 800~1200mg/L.Through the experiment, in which the model carried on during24 hour, we found that this equipment model could eliminates the oil effectively, this oil expeller has some other advantages, such as secondary pollutant, Low operating cost, easy to maintaining, and so on. It is suitability for small restaurant.The results of this mathematical model not only have their theoretical value, but also can be used in the engineering field. The study of coalescence separation technique becomes more and more important, especially when the energy sourcescrisis is coming today.
