The Polynosic fiber is a kind of high performance modified viscose fiber. It maintains the fine moisture absorption and chromatophilicity of cellulosic fiber; on the other hand it possesses high break force, modulus, especially in wet state, which contributes to its high crystallinity and orientation. In recent years, with the improvement of living standard, people's demand for comfortability and environmental friendliness provided by the textile fabric increase. Therefore, the consumption of the cellulosic fiber increased. The scale production of high performance viscose fiber such as Polynosic and Tencel has just made up recent year's cotton output drop.This article makes a contrast analysis of cotton, regular rayon, Modal,Tencel and Polynosic from fiber shape, fiber structure, fiber performance, yarn performance, fabric performance, fabric dyeing, and discussed the alkali treatment and its effect of Polynosic knitted fabric.The cross section of polynosic fiber is circular. The break force of polynosic fiber is 1.5 times of rayon in dry state, and 2 times in wet state. The break force of polynosic yarn is lower thanTencel but higher than Modal, cotton and regular rayon spun yarn. As to the property of knitted fabric, the polynosic knitted fabric is as good as Tencel in break force, air permeability and draping property but better than Modal, cotton and regular rayon knitting fabric.The good alkali stability is a major characteristic of Polynosic fiber, so, both pure Polynosic fabric and Polynosic/cotton fabric can be alkali treated to achieve better performance. According to the experiment, the best performance is achieved when pure Polynosic fabric is treated in 20 ℃ with 120g/L NaOH for 4 minutes at relaxed state. After alkali treatment, the dyeing performance and other performance of the fabric enhanced distinctly while the force lost is in the scope which might be accepted. As to the Polynosic/cotton fabric, KOH treatment is preferred to NaOH treatment.Polynosic fiber belongs to cellulosic fiber, although the regular dyes used for cellulosic fiber such as the active dyes, direct dyes, reduction dyes can be used for Polynosic, active dyes is preferred for its chromatograph scope, luster brightness, colorfastness. Among the reactive dyes, the M type suits Polynosic fabric especially.The Polynosic fiber differs in some aspects (shape structure, physical property) from other cellulosic fiber, therefore, the dyeing performance such as dye-uptake, dye degree, dyeing rate, fixing rate, dyeing eveness, dye depth are different. As a result, the dyeing process of Polynosic fabric has its feature.
