Research Of The Softness And Properties Of Jute/Cotton Blended Yarn And Knitted Fabric

In this paper, we study the feasibility of jute/cotton yarn to be used as knit garment material. Based on raw material performance research, jute has high strength, high hygroscopicity, high moisture permeability and coolness, however, it has some drawbacks like harshness and stiffness that requires some chemical treatments to make them soft and flexible. Enzyme treatment on jute and cotton material can minimize the drawbacks.Jute and cotton material have been separately treated with cellulose, pectolase and xylan and then tested for mechanical properties. The enzyme treatment is found to improve the softness of the material.According to yarn mechanical properties test result, we choose pectolase to treat in blended fabric, optimizing the treating process.
