This paper discusses the development of hazardous waste management database software, studies the integration of WebGIS technology to get a friendly and easier using user interface. In the preparative phase, with the carrying of the investigation of the basic hazardous waste management data and the study of the management methods and the management process of hazardous waste, the function modules of the system are designed. The WebGIS development platform used in the integrated system development is Autodesk MapGuide. After the analysis of its running mode and its application program interfaces, using Visual Basic, make the second development of MapGuide's component MapGuide Viewer. The second development's achievement is a new map browser control, UGMO. The background hazardous waste management database of the system is built by Access, the map database is built by a serial of Autodesk map software, adopting the raster-to-vector method to get the digital map of Qingdao. The system's integrated development uses Visual Basic as development platform, MapGuide as the WebGIS platform, integrating with UGMO map browser control. The system builds the dynamic link and the two direction associate query between hazardous waste management database and map database, realizes the professional process function modules such as discharge reporting and registering, hazardous waste transfer manifest, statistics and query and so on. At last, some problems about the application of GIS technology to the development of hazardous waste management system are brought forward and discussed.
