New methods for preparing nanoscale sulfides and organic-inorganic hybrid sulfides were investigated. Nanoparticles of CdS and PbS were obtained by decomposing precursors of CdCS3, [Cd(en)3]CS3 and PbCS3 respectively, at a constant temperature and pressure. The precursors were synthesized simply by mixing solutions of Na2CS3 and CdCl2-2.5H2O or Pb(Ac)2-3H2O at room temperature. SEM, TEM and XRD were used on characterization of the products. The results showed that the CdS and PbS nanoparticles are hexagonal and cubic structure respectively with uniform size about 20 nm. On the other hand, novel materials of [(ZnS)2NH2(CH2)3NH2;U and [(ZnS)25NH(CH2CH2NH2)2] were synthesized from elemental sulfur and zinc(II) salt in 1.3-propanediamine and diethylenetriamine by solvothermal technique. They were characterized by IR, XRD, FT-Raman and TEM etc. The compounds are insoluble in water and organic solvents and are considered as organic-inorganic hybrid polymers. The compounds revealed good photocatalytic activity for degradation of a dye, reactive violet X-2R, and keep nearly the same activity after 10 times repeated experiments.
