Derivatives of tetrathiafulvalene ( TTF ) and dithiolene have been of great interest for a long time, due to their unique electronic, optical and magnetic properties. In this paper, seven coordination compounds and two charge transfer complexes of sulfur-rich ligand have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR and UV-vis spectra. Among them, the structures of four compounds, such as C5H6S5CuI (1), (C5H6S5)2PdI2 (6), (C10H10S8)[(C4H4S4)AuCl2] (8) and (C10H10S8)Hg2Cl6 (9), have been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. It is found that there are intermolecular S...S contacts in these compounds. Moreover Some nano-sulfides capped with sulfur-rich molecules have been prepared and characterized by IR, UV-vis spectra, TEM and so on.
