With the rapid development of remote sensing technology, it becomes richer that we obtain the necessary multi-spectral, multi-resolution and multi-temporal remote sensing image. It is great significance that effectively manage massive image data, real-time browsing, fast and accurate retrieval needed remote sensing image. In this paper, we study and practice the remote sensing image database management system. Main contents as follows:1,According to the application needs of the raster database can be divided into Data Management & Analysis Oriented Raster Database and Data Representation Oriented Raster Database. To combine the two types of database design remote sensing image database management model, and according to the application of data, Using suitable for the different compressed storage algorithm.2,Design remote sensing image database physical storage model. On the basis of huge data pyramid hierarchy model, this paper design the methods of the pyramid construction rules, vertical hierarchy and horizontal tiling. And the realization of a number of joint image resampling and tiling storage into the database.3,On the basis of analysis of the key technology of the remote sensing image database engine.
