Remote Sensing(RS) is a kind of developed way which can cover with the most land, and provide fact rapidly. In the many fields, such as surveying and mapping field, GIS(geographic information system) and investigating resource etc, RS play an important role. But image data is very large, and always changes. If we want to manage these image well, and attemper them rapidly and timely, we will compress and manage these image properly.The author illustrates the based theory of wavelet transform firstly, and analyzes the mathematical transformation and encoding technology of wavelet transform. Furthermore, the author use wavelet transform to solve the sensing image compression, propose EZW(Embedded Image Coding Using Zerotrees of Wavelet Coefficient) arithmetic, and validate the encoding feasibility through many tests. The author study the statistical character of every sub-image under the different filter length after wavelet analyzing,and draw some useful conclusions.The author analyzes the character of the geographic database, propose the memory structure of these image. This paper analyzes the spatial reference characteristic of digital ortho-image, and proposes the storage mode and image data management. At last, the author puts forward "the special pyramid structure" which store and manage image data.
