In this paper, some key technologies and main model algorithms for building the image database are studied based on analyzing the characteristic and data model of the target image. Further more, the technology course and theory model feasible to the target image database are put forward, and these are applied to the target image database. The following respects show the main study:(1) The pyramid model for the target image is constructed, including transverse block and portrait layer, moreover, the data configuration, index mechanism and relational algorithm for block and layer organization are studied. Besides, based on the pyramid image model, aiming to multi-breadth target image, a concept that is called as pyramid image matrix model is put forward, and application range and constructing method for the above model are discussed in details.(2) Based on the data model for the two current commercial image database managing systems, connected with the feature of the target image data, a five layer data model fit for the target image data is put forward.(3) Referencing the concept of Spatial Database Engine (SDE), connected with the need for the target image database management, a target image database engine able to focus on managing the target image data is put forward.(4) By analyzing and studying the technology of data caching at present, a new method on target image database managing is put forward.(5) A target image database system has been developed based on SQL Server with the VC++6.0. Accordingly, the technology course and theory model, brought forward in this paper, are validated feasible to manage the target image data.
