As a national artery, railway is directly related to the the development and prosperity of the region. With the implementation of western development, The country takes the national railway in the region as the most important traffic-building. The general methods of geological survey seem to be inapplicable for the railway route selection of these areas, for they will result in many problems including limited field survey range, large outdoor work load, slow work progress and bad survey quality. In addition,as the current railway design is carried out in the 2D map, the stereoscopic effect is lacked. In railway engineering geological investigation in the use of remote sensing, three-dimensional visualization of new technologies, new methods, and is well positioned to overcome the above limitations, to speed up the progress of the work and to increase the overall project and to ensure that the level and quality of geological survey. Remote sensing is the important means to obtain the surface information and the others.The basic information obtained by remote sensing technology meet the needs of some Geological Survey .Remote sensing images with bright, clear images, vivid features of the terrain morphology . Using the future ,we Can expand the scope of geological survey, overcome the limitations of ground investigations, and enhance predictability and reduce the workload of field, enhance the effectiveness of investigations. Through remote sensing and three-dimensional visualization techniques,we can line through the area on the formulation of the terrain, topography, surface features, geological conditions in the overall understanding and grasp intuitively accurate extraction along the engineering geological conditions and adverse information such as geological body. The railway projects in geological exploration, remote sensing technology provides a new means of their macroscopic, intuitive and integrated any other unmatched by ground surveys, of which role can not be substituted by other means, has become a railway engineering geological investigation one of the means indispensable. Remote sensing technology in a variety of adverse geological phenomenon found is one of the most effective means to compensate for vision restricted by the limitations of ground-based survey.
