One of focus of remote sensing technology is on the image processing. With the deeply andwidely application of remote sensing and the increasingly demand on the image processing, theinformation extraction has therefore become a important research field.Application of remote sensing is a successful area in the regional geological survey. Atpresent, remote sensing information is extracted mainly by the means of visualinterpretation, which undoubtedly waste a lot of manpower and material resources. In recentyears, some scholars on remote sensing have developed a lot of methods, such as K-Ltransformation, principal component, band ratio, artificial neutral net and classification by GISsoftware.The extraction of geological body and structural information in remote sensing image isthe main content of the extraction of remote sensing information. It is also the important researchcontent of this thesis. The geological condition in Maodeng area is complex. More surfacecovering made the traditional visual interpretation method in the interpretation not workwell. Previous studies of data using ETM data could not meet the1:5000regional geologicalsurvey accuracy requirements.So this thesis uses the ASTER and SPOT data as the research data, extracting geologicalinformation by principal component method. Based on combining DEM,ASTER and SPOT data,the structural information was extracted in this research. Combined geological body andstructure information, the result map of remote sensing interpretation was illustrated. Thisstudy not only pay attention to technical method, but also on the geological survey sinceoverburden surface covering and worse interpretation. A large number of geological survey hascarried out at the beginning of the study and validation stages and this, improved pertinence ofinterpretation target and accuracy of interpretation results to a great extent.This study successfully discriminate the strata and intrusive rock; and also successfullyinterpret more than40linear structure in different scale. After validation, the distributionand properties of geological body interpretation is more accurate, but other details withboundary accurate is not enough. The accuracy of interpretation with structural informationis more than60%. It will provide help for the1:5million MAODENG regional geologicalsurvey of the survey and mapping.
