Maqu is located in the south-west of Gansu. With the software support of ERDAS, ArcGIS, Fragstats, based on three sources of remote sensing images, the pattern of the landscape impact factors and the Maqu landscape pattern analyses changes were studied by using quantitative analysis and the application of quantitative methods of Landscape pattern. Research indicates 1995-2006 landscape pattern has undergone big changes. Between 1995 and 2006, the total area of the wetlands, river and snow reduced, the area of bare increased, and SHDI, SIDI reduced slightly, The shape of landscape tends to be simple and regular. Findings of the Maqu landscape pattern and changes in the urban landscape of the ecological environment is of great significance to the rational use of land and urban planning. During 1995 to 2006, landscape fragmentation in Maqu generally slowed. Estimation of mean area and mean density of patches of wetland, snow, and river indicates that their landscape fragmentation reached maximum in 2000, and then decreased in 2006, but landscape fragmentation of barren land increased. Fragmentation of vegetation cover was reducing, while the rate of urbanization of residential area was increasing. During 1995 to 2006, in various regions of landscape, the ED of wetland, snow, vegetation and river are reduced, which showed that distribution pattern of these landscape are tending to be regular due to human activity, resulting in reduced inner margin compared with the last phase. Increased ED of barren showed that the more landscape patches of barren land disturbed, the more exchange of matter and energy occurred with environment.
