GIS-Based 3-D Visualization & Its Implementation

The Two dimensional Geography information system is good at displaying and querying about plane information , but when display some space information with high quality, it can't meet the requirement. Three dimensional visualization GIS fundamentally break up in the geography space information expression and the processing aspect limit, make up the geography information system in the place study data sensation and the experience insufficiency.This paper analyses the current application of the 3D visualization system of geographic information in domestic and overseas. On this basis, systematically analyses the space data acquisition, 3D data models and scene visualization. And give fundamental theory about three dimensional GIS and visualization, Analysis the basic character on the three dimensional data model. Discusses the basic platform of GIS and put forward the powerful and easily-used MapInfo servers as the basic platform of the 3D visualization systems of geographic information. The paper compares OpenGL,VRML and JAVA3D applied extensively at present. Finally, on the basis of OpenGL, this paper designs the 3D visualization GIS system of airport.
