The new curriculum reform in fundamental education puts forward the new requirements for mathematics teacher's professional development. Mathematics culture has rich connotations. Mathematics education is based on mathematics culture. In this thesis, the author gives the point that the self-development based on mathematics culture is the important way to promote the teacher's professional development. Mathematics culture's edification, can improve teachers' emotion to mathematics. It can also improve their mathematical accomplishment and professional performance. Meanwhile, the improvement of teacher's professional level would flourish the educational functions of mathematics culture and cultivate the high-quality mathematics people. In methodology, this study uses both the qualitative and quantitative research. First, the author takes the case study method to research the professional development of some typical teachers. The focus is on the influence of mathematics culture to the teacher's professional development. It reveals that professional development is based on the mathematics culture. The teacher can get more positive performance in the self-determination, creativity, self-efficiency and the potential ability in professional development. Second, she chooses several sample schools in the different levels in Xiamen City, Fujian, China. A questionnaire research is used in some senior high school mathematics teachers. It focuses on the perspective of teacher's profession, the understanding and practice to mathematics culture. The individual interview is also used as a complement. According to the findings based on the investigation, the author gives a deep analysis to the condition of the teacher's professional development based on the mathematics culture. The author also puts forward her strategies in the teacher's professional development based on mathematics culture. This thesis makes a good exploration to the teacher's professional development, and it also provides an idea and a way to research deeply mathematics teacher's professional development.
