Research On The International Competitiveness Of Chinese Desalination Industry

Water is the source of life, Water is the blood of Social Development, Water is the lifeline of Economic construction , and freshwater resources is humanity's survival and development of natural resources. Freshwater only reserves 2.5% of global water, and the river water which human life closely related to reserves only 0.006% of total freshwater. With freshwater of lakes , the total volume of fresh water reserves 0.266%. With the rapid economic development and increase of population , the fresh water resources crisis has caused widespread concern in the world.Desalination (sea water desalination), is a process to remove the salt from the salt water, also known as the desalination of sea water. Desalination is an important revenue-raising measures, but also an important component part to achieve sustainable use of water resources. As the global water shortage problems become more serious, vigorously developing the desalination industry is significant and broad prospects, and it is imperative.China is one of the earliest country to study desalination technology. after decades of exploration and development. China has become one of the few countries which fully grasp desalination technology in the world. However, due to our long-standing underestimate the marine mode of thinking and insufficient capital investment and business-to a lack of confidence and power in the use of desalination, and other factors, China's Desalination is also very small-scale industries . With the United States, Japan. Korea and other developed countries compared to industrial competitiveness in the world there is still a big gap.Based on the theory of international competitiveness in-depth study and International Competitive Advantage Theory, combining the characteristics of the desalination industry, we established an analysis framework of China's sea water desalination industrial competitiveness in the world, identify all the major elements of competition that impact on the international competitiveness of industries. Based on the analysis of the elements and contrast to the desalination industry, I evaluated the advantages and disadvantages of China's desalination industry, and presented solutions and recommendations to improve international competitiveness of the desalination industry.
