A moderately halophilic bacteria strain Bacillus sp .XJ1-05 was isolated from the aibihu. It was primarily identified as Bacillus sp.according to its physiological & biochemical characteristics and the homology analysis of its 16S rDNA sequence(GenBank Accession No.EF591780).The optimal growth of Bacillus sp .XJ1-05 was obtained with pH,temperature and NaCl concentrantion being 8,33℃and 1M .Bacillus sp .XJ1-05 could use choline as precursor to synthesis betaine de novo ,there was a positive correlation between its synthsis and the concentration of NaCl.Two pairs of primers was designed according to the sequence of GbsAB of Bacillus licheniformis ATCC 14580 registeres in GenBank,GbsAB of Bacillus sp .XJ1-05 were amplified from its genome. There were high homology (97% and 96%)between the GbsAB sequence (GenBank Accession No. EU050989 and No. EF591781)of Bacillus sp .XJ1-05 and those of Bacillus licheniformis ATCC 14580.The bioinformatics analysis revealed that the proteinshad no signal peptide and notable transmembrane region, and was high Hydrophobicity. It contained Aldehyde dehydrogenases glutamic acid active site and Aldehyde dehydrogenases cysteine active site.
