| As human society to the information, network-based, digital and intelligent direction, basic geographic information plays an increasingly important role in the national economy and social life, and expands the application fields continuously. Because the source of geographic information based on extensive, multi-scale, multi-temporal, and the characteristics of a large quantity of data, it mikes the design of Massive basic geographic database faces new challenges. The existing geospatial databases are mainly use relational database to store and manage spatial information, and it is orderly spatial data set with the same characteristics. The storage and management of spatial data is the foundation of the building of spatial database. So studying a more advanced geography data model will be the development trend of Geography Information System. An advanced geography data model should have the characters of truly reflecting the world, having intelligence and managing spatial data by high efficiency. There are three generation spatial data models: the CAD model, the Coverage model, as well as the third model of Geodatabase which was entirely based on Object- Relational Data Base Management System. The merits of each spatial data model comparing with the prior model wholly embody these aspects.In this paper, the spatial database based on the Geodatabase model and combined with geographic information storage and application needs for the "Digital Ocean" system, is designed and carried out to store massive map data with the methods of distributed database.At first, this paper outlined many kind of GIS-related knowledge and explains the type of spatial data and encoding format, then compare several spatial database construction methods, introduce many kinds of method of development for GIS; and outline the components of the development steps and many kinds of development platform especially the platform developed by ESRI Cop; and next analyzes the spatial database design methods and steps in details, including the concept design, logic design, as well as meta-database design. Finally this paper gives a final design for the special database of massive map, including system design, logic design, meta-database design and the establishment of the Geodatabase design model. At present, the massive map database designed in this paper has been put into use, and achieved the expected design requirements. |
