But takes each kind of topic geographic information system's core--the design of spatial databases appears especially important, It is a standard relational database technology to the performance of GIS data model, the quality it is designed can influence the overall performance of GIS. Therefore, this study focused on the spatial database design of Dahongshan copper.The paper describes the basic theory of spatial data, spatial database, spatial data models and so on. It has analyzed the features and the insufficiency of traditional database, has discussed the basic concepts and advantagesthird of Geodatabase which is the third generation of spatial data model, studied methods and tools of the Geodatabase design using UML data model, based on this, abstract the data of Dahongshan copper, then make the UML Modeling with CASE tools. This Geodatabase. data models is designed for management and application of the basic terrain data to thematic mining data. It is not only including the topography, geology and other basic information in study area, but also integrated the important thematic data about mining geology, mine surveying, mine roadway and so on. Fully expression the complex data of Dahongshan copper.Finally, use the data models and produced automatically the Spatial Database of Dahongshan copper which is based on Geodatabase through ArcGIS. Finally, collect the various types of data of Dahongshan copper, Discussed the transformation of GIS data format, loading of Geodatabase data. Then management and operation the spatial data and attribute data of Dahongshan copper by ArcGIS. Implementation of the function for the specific data, such as query, spatial analysis and overlay analysis. Provided a guarantee to mine production safety.
