The subfamily Plusiinae belongs to Noctuidae in Lepidoptera, with Plusia Ochsenheimer, 1816 as its type genus. More than 440 speices are reported around the world; nearly 100 speices are described in China. In this thesis, 2 tribes, 11 genera, 29 speices of the subfamily Plusiinae were studied from China. Keys to the tribes, genera, and speices based on adult structures and male genitalia are provided, with photographas of the adults and male genitalia and some female genitalia being taken. Some synonyms are confirmed. Argyrogramma yunnanensis is synonymized with Ctenoplusia kosemponensis; Panchrysia mishanensis is synonymized with P. ornate; Argyrogramma longisigna is synonymied with Thysanoplusia lectula; Neoplusia acuta and Shensiplusia nigribursa are synonymied with Chrysodeixis acuta.SEM observation on adult cuticle structures showed that the antennae are mainly occupied by sensilla trichodea. Generaly eight types of sensilla are observed, sensillum trichodeum, sensillum cylindric, sensillum coeloconicum, Sensillum dactyloidica, sensillum auricillica, sensillum chaeticum, sensillum palmate, and sensillum basiconicum.
