Investigation of the resource and polyphasic taxonomy of Lachnum and the related genera from Anhui was carried out in this paper. The ecology and species diversity of Lachnum and the related genera was surveyed on the spot from Anhui Huangshan Mountain and Dabie Mountain, and about 600 specimens were gathered. 46 specimens of Lachnum and the related genera were examined. Fifteen taxa of Lachnum and four taxa of the related genera including two new records of China are reported, which are Lachnum abnorme, Lachnum brasiliense, Lachnum brevipilosum, Lachnum calyculiforme, Lachnum carneolum, Lachnum ciliare, Lachnum controversum, Lachnum hyalopus, Lachnum nudipes, Lachnum pseudocorreae, Lachnum pygmaeum, Lachnum cf. salicariae, Lachnum sclerotii, Lachnum subpygmaeum, Lachnum virgineum and Albotricha albotestacea, Arachnopeziza aurata, Hyaloscypha aureliella, Lasiobelonium cf. ningxiaense. Lachnum cf. salicariae and Lasiobelonium cf. ningxiaense are recorded for the first time from China.Based on the principle of polyphasic taxonomy, investigation of the phylogenetic relationships of Lachnum and the related genera by using physiological and biochemical characteristics, analysis of esterase isoenzyme, GC-MS analysis of volatile components from fermentation broth and sequence analysis of ITS rDNA was carried out. The results indicated that physiological and biochemical characteristics provided little resolution of phylogenetic relationships; analysis of esterase isoenzyme and GC-MS analysis of volatile components from fermentation broth provided part of resolution of phylogenetic relationships; results of obtained from sequence analyses of ITS rDNA indicated that the most distant species within the genus is Lachnum pteridophyllum, however the other taxa are grouped together with a bootstrap value of 64%, and Lachnum is probably polyphletic.
