Phenotypic adaptation and phenotypic evolution were key foundation to evolutionary botany, which were necessary to combined ecology, evolution with molecular biology. In order to uncover the evolutionary mechanism of plasticity and adaptation of A. thaliana, following research were made.Four ecotypes of Arabidopsis,i.e.the Columbia ecotype,Shihezi ecotype and Zhejiang ecotypeand Qinghe ecotype,are chosen as the materials.The adaptation of photo- physiological properties,natural selection,phenotypic adaptation under arid and humid treatments is studied.The results show that:1. There are the significant differences between these ecotypes not only in growing properties,such as the seedling height,above ground biomass,bolting time and relative adaptability,but also in instantaneous photo-physiological properties,such as the gs,WUE and Trmmol.Columbia ecotype show the most plasticity ability under the arid condition.2. It has formed different of daily adaptive among treatment, ecotype, and times. For example, Zhejiang ecotype is unconspicuous on the midday depression of photosynthetic rate and the maximum photosynthetic rate appearance at noon. The during time of photosynthetic noon break has been increase under dry environment. Four ecotypes of A.thaliana show bigness photosynthetic rate and evaporation rate.3.Principal component analysis shows the differences of harmonious relationship of photo-physiological properties between different treatments and among ecotypes are not significant,which reveals a remarkable consistency of the property integration pattern of A.thaliana.Results were found the evidence of divergence differentiation of four populations came from various habitants under droughts tress,one material was from American and others were from china where was the origin central of A. thalianain. It might relieve the drought stress by the means of mutual interaction among the morphology,physiology and development traits. Methodology emphasized particularly on adaptation of morphology should be reformed.This item was established on the base of phenotypic adaptation and plasticity evolution, There were many innovation on study of the evolutionary mechanism of plasticity and applicative study of phenotypic plasticity was submitted primarily. This paper enriched study of phenotypic plasticity.
