The expanding application of GIS and the increasing data processing requires GIS processing technique to be improved. In traditional GIS platform, the geographic data processing and spatial operations are provided for users as command. With the development of COM, ArcGIS 9 Geoprocessing allows users to build model for process flow neatly in recent years, and achieves the customization of geographic data processing and spatial operations and the combination with relevant technologies. This research mainly analyzes ArcGIS 9 Geoprocessing. Firstly, based on the Dimensionally Extended Nine-Intersection Model(DE-9IM), the author analyzed the spatial topological relation and topological data spatial processing and its extending. Secondly, after the analysis of many kinds of accesses to the Geoprocessing and the discussion of Geoprocessing model and ModelBuilder, the author designed the Geoprocessing model and probed into Geoprocessing modeling and its application in practice on the basis of some real cases. Finally, with the analysis of geometry object processing arithmetic and the methods of ArcGIS development and the integrated use of Geoprocessing and ArcEngine as arithmetic and developing methods, many processing functions are implemented, such as the analysis of spatial relations, spatial data edit, the setting of Spatial Reference, spatial data operation, topological edit, the display and process of spatial 3D, etc.The research shows that DE-9IM can analyze the spatial topological relations and operations, and can extend its processing function. With full use of Geoprocessing and ModelBuilder, practical data processing model can be built. Making full use of ArcGIS multi-level developing methods can achieve different specialized processing, and satisfy the processing needs of specialization and diversity in GIS applications.
