Design Of ChangLe Tourism Information System

With the rapid growth of global tourism, tourism information system (TIS) is playing a more and more important role in regional tourism development, and having a bright future. Althouth China has made promiment progress in the field of developing an information tourism, more as well as deeper research into the applications of practical GIS technology is needed. The TIS, mainly on the basis of GIS technology, will not only make it convenient for related insititutions to carry out activities such as the manamement and protection of tourism resources, the planning of tourism establishment and the landscape design in scenery places, but also for tourists to inquire and analyse tourism information, thus to realize a genuine digital tourism.This paper explored the design and applications of a regional TIS, taking the Changle City in Fujian Province as an case study. The main contents and contributions of the paper include: demand and feasibility analysis about the Changle TIS system, with goals setting and framework design; the creation of an symbol system to denotate various tourism resources in the system; the design of a datasheet structure applied in the TIS; and the concrete applications of the system in the output of thematic maps, especially those results in forms of multimedia.
