| In the vast domain of China, topographic and geomorphic conditions are quite varied. Geomorphology is one of the most main factors of physical geographical environment, and its maps have been widely used in the scientific research, economic construction, eco-environmental protection, education and military affairs etc.Digital geomorphology is based on traditional methods of geomorphologic mapping and geographic information system (GIS). The article formulates the technical routes and methods of 1:1000000 digital geomorphologic mapping in China based on RS and GIS, with an example of digital geomorphologic map, H-48, Chengdu. And then discussed some issues in the digital geomorphologic mapping: technology of basic geomorphology based on DEM, defining boundary of mesa and hill and the plain along the rivers, quantitative inspection of basic geomorphology. Analysis shows that: Digital geomorphology based on RS and GIS will improve the efficiency and quality of geomorphologic mapping.Finally, we will discuss the structure of geomorphology database and the applications of geomorphology database. Geomorphology database is a great breakthrough in conventional mathods of geomorphologic mapping. The updating of geomorphology database depends on the updating of basic geography database. Geomorphology database inherits the characters of conventional geomorphologic mapping, both of the applications. Except for that, the technology of 3S will provide more updating and applications of geomorphology database.
