Carchesium polypinum is a kind of cosmopolitan protozoa. During the past years, many wide and deep resesrches on its morphology and structure have been done at organism, subcellular and molecular levels, but the studies of ecology are still a field of virgin. In this thesis, some work was carried out at physiological and molecular levels with isozyme and RAPD respectively:1) Four kinds of isozyme including EST, MDH, LDH and ACP of wild C. polypinum populations were surveyed and their gene loci were analyzed;2) RAPD was employed to survey genetic relationship of five samples from three lakes including Donghu Lake (D), Nanhu Lake (N) and Shahu Lake (S) to discuss the definition of microorganism population. The procured results showed that:1)EST was controlled by six loci and its quaternary structure involves two patterns: monomer and dimmer. The bands of MDH were coded by five loci and they were distinctly divided into two typical kinds—s-MDH bands and m-MDH bands. Five bands of LDH were coded by one heteozygotic locus—AB. ACP has only one band and was controlled by a homozygotic locus;2) Samples from Donghu Lake were separated by Shahu Lake and Nanhu Lake suggested that the individuals of C. polypinum in D belong to several populations.
