Based on 3S technology,we analyzed landscape pattern and habitat fragmentation of the fact and latency habitats of white-headed leaf monkey and the nearby habitats of black leaf monkey. Simulation of disturbance and restoration based on GIS buffer were put on habitats of white-headed leaf monkey where is very fragmentation.We revealed the relationship between habitat fragmentation and simulation of disturbance and restoration. We also studied the relationship between the population of white-headed leaf monkey and its habitats. Some references to protect white-headed leaf monkey and its krast habitats were put forward at last. The main results are as following: 1 The maps of landscape component,human disturbance and groups of monkey distribution of four study regions(including Nongshan,Nongguanshan,Jiuchongshan and Buzun) and sketch map of tor and main disturbance of white-headed monkey and nearby black leaf monkey were mapped through the GIS software. 2 Using GIS and other statistic softwares,we calculated the main index of landscape pattern and habitat fragmentation. 2.1 The total tor area of four study regions is 142.72km2, 9.03km2, 16.13 km2 and 12.04 km2 respectively. 2.2 The patchiness(PT) of four study regions is 0.4721, 0.7377, 0.7132 and 0.7734 respectively. 2.3 The fragmentation(F) index of four study regions is 0.9289, 0.9733, 0.9665 and 0.9675 respectively. 2.4 The proximity(PX) of the fact habitats of white-headed leaf monkey is 0.3175, of latency habitats of white-headed leaf monkey is 0.1059 and of nearby habitats of black leaf monkey is 0.3414. 2.5 The human disturbance index(HDI) of four study regions is 0.3227, 1.2812, 0.7685 and 0.9185 respectively. The results show that there are very fragmentation in habitats of white-headed leaf monkey except Nongshan and all the habitats are isolated. One reason is karst process, the other is human activity. 3 It is signality to study the disturbance and restoration of the serious fragmentation habitats of white-headed leaf monkey. We studied the simulation of disturbance and restoration by method of GIS buffer.Based this simulation,two formulae(area buffer function and perimeter buffer function) are firstly presented and applied. We revealed there are some relationshipes between buffer functions and habitat fragmentation and found that FB=(FA1/R1+FA2/R2)×100 can roundly describe the degree of habitat fragmentation much more. 4 We amended and extended the logistic equation. From the new equation, amount and dynamics of the white-headed leaf monkey population associate with three factors: 1) genes composition of the population, 2) habitat quality, 3) human effect. The potential rate of increase per year is about 30%, which was estimated by the new equation. 5 Some measures to protect the habitats are 1)gradual vegetation restoration,2) establish habitat aisle in relevant place,3) ecology emigration and enlarge reserve area in Nongshan reserve and 4) construct harmonious karst landscape which comprises human and other creatures. A project about move this monkey to other places was given but we prefer protecting them in current places.
