Measurement And Study Of Dental Model On Normal Occlusion In Chongqing Teenagers

Objective: This study is aim to establish the norms of dental model on normal occlusion in Chongqing teenagers, reveal the characteristics of dental model, compare with different sexual, racial and regional population and provide the reference for diagnoses in orthodontics. Methods: 92 cases of normal occlusion dental model in Chongqing teenagers(45 boys and 47 girls) were selected. The width and height of crown, the width and length of the dental arch, the height of the palate, the basal arch width and length were measured. The Bolton index, Pont index, and Howes value were figured out. Correlation analysis of some norms were calculated. The measurements were analysed with statistic methods and compared with that of different groups, meanwhile, the value of Bolton index and Pont index in clinic were evaluated. Results: The norms of dental model on normal occlusion in Chongqing teenagers were established, the graphes of dental arch of upper jaw and lower jaw were drawn. Some of the norms were different comparing with different groups. Conclusion: 1. The crown, dental arch and basal arch are different in sex. The width and height of crown, the width and length of the dental arch, the height of the palate, the basal arch width and length in boys are larger than those in girls. The Bolton index, Pont index, and Howes value are indifferent in sex. 2. The crown, dental arch, basal arch, Bolton index, Pont index and Howes value are different according to different area , race. We shoud use our own norms in orthodontics. 3. The tooth material, the width and length of the dental arch and the basal arch width and length are high correlation.
