Comparing with the metal, the ceramics performs better in low toxicity, biocompatibility, shape, shiny appearance, etc.,in the field of dental restoration. But the destruction problems appeared in clinical use have perplexed patients and related practitioners for long time, which makes dental ceramics fracture behavior under load become a hotspot. This thesis simulates the fracture behavior of dental ceramic materials in different sample size and loading conditions by using FRANC3 D and ABAQUS,and tries to sum up some rules from the simulation results. In Chapter 1, the background and significance of the thesis are introduced, including the developing history, pros ans cons of dental ceramic materials, and the experiments, numerical simulation and theoretical research of this field are also analyzed. In Chapter 2,the related theorectical knowledge about the dental ceramics sliding contact fracture is introduced, including sphere-face Hertz contact theory, the calculation of stress intensity factor in crack-tip,interaction integral method, and maximum tensile stress criterion. In Chapter 3,the fracture processes of dental ceramic mater ials under normal load and sliding contact are simulated, and the fracture processes under different relative thickness, different relative load point are discussed. In Chapter 4, the fracture processes of multilayer and graded dental ceramic materials under different distributions of material parameters are simulated. The simulations try to come up with some optimizations for the designs of dental ceramic restorations.
