Informationalization is a trend of high technology of the world. With the rapid progress of technologies on earth observing, Managiningjnternet, Virtual Reality and the development of NSDI(National Spatial Database Infrastructure),many conceptions, such as digital earth, digital city and digital campus have been put forward and are being practised. As the forerunner in research and application of hi-tech, university must take in a great hand in research, development of digital city, digital globe, especially the practice of digital campus. The construction of digital city is a complete and opening engineering, which needs much more time and funds. But as campus is concerned, which can be regard as a miniphoto of a city, It's digital form—digital campus can be constructed first to provide a prototype for digital city. Digital campus of course meet the demand of campus management modernization and information sharing. While on the orther hand, it must be more well-known to the people outside .In the thesis, the design, realization of digital campus and operation are fully discussedSpatial datas are abtained by digitalizing topographic maps , VB language and MapObjects ActiveX controls are used to develop a system ,which can display, navigate and query the maps of campus; secondly ArcIMS and client/server model are utilized to realize the connect, query and analysis of 2D databases; finally, for the more perfection of digital campus, 3D scene rebuilding is discussed: campus's terrain and other objects are modeled by MultiGen, and in Vega, 3D driving display about campus scene is realized. The experimental result shows this research is of use in theory and practice.
