Study On Disastrous Weather Monitoring And Prediction Along JiQing Highway

Daily surface meteorological observations along JiQing Highway between 1971 and 2000 were analyzed and the synoptic and climatic characters of disastrous weathers along JiQing Highway were revealed. The main disastrous weathers along JiQing Highway are heavy fog, rain, snow, hail, high and low temperature, which have significant monthly and seasonal distribution. Climatic and Synoptic characters, mechanism and forecast methods were studied through typical disastrous events.Threshold values of weather conditions and key service period for various disastrous weathers are put forward according to the traffic conditions and technical index of highway management. Countermeasures for drivers and highway management department against various disastrous weather conditions were studied and a scientific , pertinent, detailed countermeasure database has been set up.The Monitoring and Prediction System for Disastrous Weathers along JiQing Highway has been developed with visual software technology. The system consists two main subsystems .which are the Automatic Comprehensive Meteorological Information Production System and the Meteorological Information Browse System. The former is an automatic platform for forecaster embodying weather monitoring and forecastproduction, and provides functions as follows : automatic data processing .disastrous weather warning producing .automatic storing of meteorological data . Meteorological Information Browse System is an information browsing and automatic downloading platform, through which highway manage department gets real-time monitoring and warning information of various disastrous weathers.
