Northwest Sci-Tech University of Agriculture & Forestry This paper deals with a taxonomical study on the Phlaeothripidae from China. It includesthe following parts: resume, economic importance, materials and methods, biologicalcharacter, results and discussion. Firstly, the history and present situation both in China andabroad, taxonomic characters and situation are reviewed and outlined. Secondly, it is based onthe present specimens, 125 species of 44 genera in the Phlaeothripidae from China have beenidentified and described, of which 11 species are new to science, 1 species is transferred asnew combination, 1 new genus and 6 species are reported from China for the fist time. Keysare given to all concerned genera and species. Figures with diagnostic characters of all newspecies and new record species are given. The male genitalia of some species have beenillustrated complementarily. At the final part, some problems in the Phlaeothripidae arediscussed. In addition, checklist, index to both Chinese and scientific names of thePhlaeothripidae and references are attached at the end of the paper. The type specimens of the new species are deposited separately in the NorthwestSci-Tech University of Agriculture and Forestry(NWSUAF), Baotou Langscape ResearchInstituteof Inner Mongolia(BLRI). New species: Bactrothrips henansis; Magathrips antennatus; Apelaunothripsfunniushanensis; Hoplandrothrips trucatoapicus; Hoplandrothrips brevibristla; Liothrips chinese-rosi;  Litotetothrips hainanensis; Holothrips tolerabilis; Oidanothripsbreiformosus; Haplothrips capuliformus; Azaleothrips duani. New genus records:Megathrips targioni-tozztti, 1881. New combination: Liothrips machili (Moulton, 1928). New records: Bacthrothrips idolomorphus Karny, 1919; Elaphrothrips notabilisAnanthakrishann, 1973; Magathrips lativentris Heeger, 1852; Ecacanthothrips andrei, Palmer& Mound 1978; Hoplandrothrips bagnalliamus Priesner, 1920; Holothrips fumidus(Ananthakrishan, 1972).
