The present thesis deals with the application of the male genitalia to taxonomic study on Hesperiinae from China. It includes the two parts : in the general part, taxonomic histry, matirals and methods, morphology , biology and economic importance of Hesperiidae are introduced and reviewed. In taxonomic part, based on studies of the two tribes'systematical researches, the founction of the male genitalia characaters in taxonomy are studied and discussed . The results are follows :1) The length and shape of the saccus are important characters to divide Hesperiinae into tribes .2) uncus, socius and gnathos are major traits in infragenus classification. The positions of taxonomy of Apostictoptenis Leech and Ampittini also are discussed. Finally, 68 species of 15 genera in the two tribes are described and discussed, of which 4 species are new to science, 1 species is newly recorded from China,! known genus is redescribed.Keys to all generic and specific taxa concerned are given . Reference and index to both Chinese and scientific names are attached . At the end of the paper, i lost of species concerned are illustrated. Photos of new species are also provided.New species , new record and described known genus in the paper are listed as follows:New species : Polytremis brevistigama, sp .nov., Astictopterus hannanensis,sp, nov., Halpe pseudonephele, sp. nov. , Baoris acuminatus , sp. nov.New record species: Paranara apostata ( Snelien 1886 )Type species of all new species are deposited in the Northwest Sci-Tech University of Agriculture and Forestry .
