| Lagriinae, one of two subfamilies of the Family Lagriidae, Coleoptera, is plenty of species and widely distributed in China. Some species of the family are present or potental phytophagous pests in agriculture and forestry. However, its taxonomy remains unsettled, which has seriously hindered the understanding of its ecology, biology, biogeography, and so further effective control. Based on Dr Chen Bin' s (1995-2002) study, the work aims to conduct research on comparative morphology of antenna, male and female genitalia, and undertand their significance in taxonomy. The taxonomy of the subfamily is also involved in the research, mainly the description of new species and resolvement of some taxonomic confusions resulted from the lack of morphological evidence.In taxonomy, this work includes 8 genera and 46 species of Chinese Lagriidae. Among them, one genus is new record to China, Neogria Borchmann, 4 species are new to science: Aulonogriamacroasp. nov., Aulonogria discolor sp. nov., Neogria sinensis sp. nov., Cerogria (Aeschrocera) fanjingensis sp. nov., and 2 species are new records for China: Cerogria (.Cerogria} montana Merkl and Bothynogria meghalayana Merkl. In addtion, female of two species are described for the first time: Cerogria (Cerogria) nodocollis and Cerogria (Cerogriodes) klapperichi. Keys to all these 8 genera and 46 species are given. Moreover, Cerogria (Cerogria ) ommalata are transferred from the subgenus Cerogria Borchmann to Cerogriodes Borchmann, Cerogria (Cerogria] flavicornisare transferred from the subgenus Cerogria Borchmann2003to Aeschrocera Chen. Cerogria (Cerogria} nigrosparsa are transferred from the genus Cerogria Borchmann to the genus Lagria Fabricius.Antennal morphology is comparatively studied on the basis of 43 secies of Lagriinae. The result shows:1) some deformed and fine characters on middle antennal segments are very stable among species and is significant in the identification of genus^ subgenus and genus. (1). 9th and 10th antennal segments of the male of Bothynogria have lined and naked spots and they are stable generic identification creterion. (2). 7th to 10th antennal segments of the female of Xenocera are with color bright spot in knowned species. (3) 5th to 10th antennal segments of the male of Neogria expanded (4). the antenna of Cerogria among species and subgenera are quite variated and can be reliably used as interspecific identification characters.2) Common characters of male antennae of Lagriinae are: terminal antennal segment elongate, and the extent of of elongation is outstanding intergeneral identification characters. Some deformed and fine characters on terminal antennal segment are stable within genera but largely different between genera, and they are significant in the identification of genera.3) The male antenna of Cerogria, with 1st segment at least longer than 3rd and at least 9th segment dentately expanded, can well differ from Lagria,1\v& female of Cerogria (Cerogria) can be distinguished from Lagria in 1st antennal segment longer than or as long as 3rd.4) The female of Xenocera is very special, the female is similar to male in antenna with 9th and 10th segment wider, llth segment widest, bearing slightly hollowed scupture on ventral surface.5) the characters on llth segment of Aulonogria should be added as general characters: llthslightly longer than 10th segment or longer than 2 preceding segments together.6) antennal character is a very stable morphological character. Species that have similarity in antennae usually have similarity in male genitalia and female reproductive organs.A comparative morphological study of male genitalia based on 22 species of 7 genera was conducted. The results show that the differentiation of the male genitalia between species is outstanding and can be used in the identification of some genera.
