Based on the program-the potential surveying assessment of mineral resources of arc nappe structure belt of south Ningxia in north-eastern margin of Qinghai-Tibet plateau, a software system named Ningxia Mineral Geological Information System is constructed on the PC platform associated with Arc/View developed by ESRI firm. The system involves large and diverse geoscience data sets of Ningxia district , which are acquired from various sources, such as geological mapping, geochemical sampling, geographysical surveying, remote sensing, etc.The systems includes various capabilities in processing and calculating data, such as x,y coordinate calculations for points and polygon centroids, area ,perimeter, percent of area calculations, angle of intersection, linear structure density statistic, geological entropy calculations , etc. At the same time it also has powerful analyzing function, for example, linear corelation analysis, buffer analysis, overlay analysis such as clip, union, erase, intersect, merge and identity.Using these techniques , an assessment geological model was set up and 10 metallogenic factors were used to create predicting TIN and coutours which can predict the prospecting pattern for gold and other concomitancy metals deposit in the south Ningxia .
