Study On Granite Landforms And Features Of Fujian Mount Taimushan

The Mount Taimushan is located in the south of the Fuding city, which sits on the shore of the East China Sea, full of weird rocks with various shapes. Its main peak is 917.3 m high. On the summit, you can enjoy the vast East China Sea and the peak clusters rise out of the sea. It is reputed as the"Grand View of Mountain and Sea". The main geoheritage types are dominated by the miarolite peak clusters, structural-flowing water scouring narrow gorges, gravitational collapse cave-like landforms, lifelike pictographic granite stones and spherical granite stones. The granite in Mount Taimushan belongs to the typical A-type miarolite.Fuding City is located in the east subsidence zone of giant Neocathaysian Tectonic Belt, and the Nanling Latitudinal Tectonic Belt at its east end, which founded the tectonic framework dominated by the northeast– southwest and East - West of Fuding .The main strata are the Carboniferous Period,the Jurassic Period,the Cretaceous Period and the quaternary period, the most ones are the Jurassic Period and the Cretaceous Period.The peak cluster composed of stony peak, fortress, wall and pillar, arranged in a proper distribution with uneven density. Mould-making landforms looking as natural as though they were living, and stony eggs in different poses and with different expressions, make up a gorgeous and colorful painting. The accompanying landscapes of fissure valley, lane valley, canyon and cave are distinctive too.China is one of the most widely granite-covered countries in the world. A variety of granite landforms are formed by granite different in origin, geological age,climatic zone,altitude,eroded grade and geological agent. According to incomplete statistics,there are more than 40 granite-dominated famous scenic areas with different features in China, including three sites of world natural heritage, three sites of global geopark, ten sites of national geopark and 29 sites of national key scenic areas. Granite landscape localities have become the most important and attractive tourist destinations in China. Granite landform is not only an important tourism resources, but also a key material evidence to research geologic history .When studying the geological history in some area, geologists always pay much attention to the granite which is considered as a useful probe to understand the information in the deep earth and explore the dynamic mechanism of formation and evolution and of granite belts, as well as a window to study the interaction between the earth's crust and mantle.
