Study On The Flora Of Seed Plants In Hunan Lanshan Forest Park

Hunan Lanshan Forest Park lies in northwest of Jingzhu Forest Farm, Lanshan County, Hunan province, between 111°57'55"-112°04'13"E and 25°07'46"-25°14'27"N, with an area of about 7046.7hm2. It is located at southen Jiuyi Mountain, Mengzhuling Mountains, Nanling Mountain Range. Its elevation from 862.7m to 1825.7m, with average from 1200m to 1300m, and its geomorphic type is middle-mountain.The vegetation types of Hunan Lanshan Forest Park are abundant, it could be divided into 36 formations,8 vegetation types,5 vegetation type groups. The dominant natural vegetation type group is Broad - leaved forest(about 5000hm2), including Evergreen broad-leaved forest, Evergreen and deciduous broadleaved mixed forest and Deciduous broad-leaved forest, which is wide and continuous and rare to find in the middle mountain of Hunan.The seed plants flora of Hunan Lanshan Forest Park is made up of 1226 species in 601 genera and 161 families which concluded from the exploration. Based on the analysis of the florisctic elements at species, genera and family level, there are 5 main conclusions as follow:1. Flora Composition:161 families in this flora can be classified to 10 areal-types, among them,65.52%of the total families are tropical families and 34.48%are temperate families.601 genera in this flora can be grouped into 14 areal-types, among them, the four arel-types which accounting for larger proportion are Pantropic, North temperate, E. Asia and Trop. Asia.(they include 352 genera,64.11%of the total genera). In the ingredient of genera, there are 270 genera belongs to tropic character (49.18% of the total genera) and 265 genera blongs to temperate character (48.27% of the total genera).1226 species in the flora can be grouped into 14 areal-types, in which the Endemic to China with 473 species is at the first position (39.32% of the total species).2. Flora nature:It shows that, according to the analysis of the families, genera and species, Hunan Lanshan Forest Park has a typical subtropical flora and is characteristic of floristic transition from Central subtropical to South subtropical composition.3. Flora characteristics:The seed plants flora of Hunan Lanshan Forest Park is an epitome of the flora of Nanling Mountain Range(especially of the middle mountain). It showed obvious transition character with assembling and transition of several floristic ingredient (namely floras of South China, East China,Central China and Dianqiangui). There, as a middle mountain lacking species of the low mountain's, enjoys a relatively rich flora of send plants, the floristic geography are diversity, and the endemism is obvious too. There are many rare and endangered plants, lots of new scientific datum are found.4. Flora position:Hunan Lanshan Forest Park below the area of "(?)" which is the assembling area of the floras of Central China, South China and East China, belongs to the northen South China Flora(Central Nanling District). So, it is the important zone of the study on Floristic Geography.5. Flora Origin:The flora of Hunan Lanshan Forest Park is a part of Nanling Mountain Range Flora. Therefore, the flora, which is transformed from the sub-tropic and tropic area of the South China platform, origined and evolved from the Cathaysian Flora.
