The fundamental issue of China’s agricultural development is to promote the modernization of agricultural production methods, and the core issue is to promote the modernization of agricultural productivity. The agricultural production service industry is an important entry point for the construction of agricultural modernization, relying on agricultural production services can make more modern factors imported into agricultural production. However,at present,China’s agricultural productive services are still at a low level, and small farmers are still mainly operating in a decentralized manner and are in the process of continuous differentiation, and the production and operation of small farmers and the way of resource allocation have changed profoundly. In this context,it is of great theoretical and practical significance to study the influence mechanism of agricultural productive services to promote the further optimization of smallholder production and management and the development of agricultural productive services to effectively accelerate the modernization of smallholder production. This study takes "serving small farmers" as the basis, firstly,a field survey was conducted in24 villages in 6 cities in three provinces of Hebei Shandong and Henan, focusing on the use of agricultural production services by farmers in all aspects of the crop cultivation cycle in the context of regional cropping systems, and the influence of the degree of use of agricultural production services on farmers’ choice of business practices was analyzed by constructing a disordered multi-value selection model.Secondly, using the data of rural fixed tracking observation sites in Jilu and Henan provinces from 2009 to 2015 of the former Ministry of Agriculture,we used the degree of farm household part-time employment as a characterization of farm household differentiation, analyzed the influence of farm household part-time employment on farm household production decisions by using a dynamic panel regression model and explored the influence of agricultural productive services on the production decisions of small farmers in the context of farm household differentiation by using a mediating effect model.Again,we use the panel data of wheat and maize-producing provinces(cities and autonomous regions)from 2001 to2020 in the National Compilation of Cost and Benefit Information on Agricultural Products to construct a transcendental log production function to analyze the impact of agricultural productive services on food production efficiency, and calculate the output elasticity and substitution elasticity of related factors to analyze agricultural productive services and their interaction with other factors from the perspective of factor synergy development. The main findings are:(1)the impact of agricultural productive services on food production efficiency Based on the above study, the main conclusions are:(1)As the degree of part-time farming increases, farmers will reduce the sown area of wheat and corn. The negative effect of the degree of part-time farming on farmers’ planting decisions will be significantly reduced after they adopt agricultural production services. In other words, there is a mediating effect between farmers’ adoption of agricultural production services and their decision on grain sowing areas.(2)The substitution effect of seeds and fertilizers on land has entered a bottleneck;the mechanical factors and labor factors show complementary relationships and the degree of complementarity deepens year by year, and the mechanical factors show different degrees of substitution for biochemical technical factors such as seeds, fertilizers and pesticides, and agricultural production services have shown great potential for substitution and technical effects on non-labor factors in agricultural production.(3)For each unit increase in the degree of adoption of full-cycle agricultural productive services in line with the regional cropping system, the probability of farmers choosing "land transfer" and "production trust" is 60.47 times and 60.47 times higher, respectively, than that of choosing "self-growing".The probability of choosing "land transfer" and "production trust" is 60.47 and 8.40 times higher than that of choosing "grow your own" respectively;while for each unit increase in the cost of full-cycle agricultural productive services, the probability of choosing "land transfer" and "production trust" will be higher than that of choosing "grow your own" respectively. The probability of farmers choosing "land transfer" and "production trust" decreases by 94.87% and94.31% respectively. In terms of the average marginal effects of the sample, when the values of other variables are held constant, the probability of farmers choosing to grow their own land will decrease by 6.77% and the probability of choosing "land transfer" will increase by 5.47% for each unit increase in the use of agricultural production services over the whole cycle;when the values of other variables are held constant, the probability of farmers choosing to grow their own land will increase by 5.47% for each unit increase in the use of agricultural production services over the whole cycle. When the values of other variables are held constant, the probability of farmers choosing to "grow their own" will increase by 5.91% for each unit increase in the cost of agricultural production services over the whole cycle.Combining the real situation and research findings, the main policy recommendations are:(1)focus on the synergistic and interactive relationship between input factors and develop new technologies of agricultural machinery and agricultural arts:(2)establish a sound agricultural productive service organization system and improve the organization of service suppliers;(3)cultivate diversified service organizations and build a new rural social foundation for agricultural development;(4)focus on the organization and coordination functions of village collectives;(5)focus on the cultivation and support of rural backbone and form a reasonable structure of rural capable teams;enrich public welfare services and focus on the efficiency and quality of public service supply.
