| In recent years, the frequency of unexpected events and the accelerated changes in the market environment have increased the uncertainty of the supply chain operation itself to a certain extent. In this context, many scholars have pointed out that after a supply chain system has been hit by an unexpected event, the way to bring it back to the right track as soon as possible has become an important topic of research. As the research progresses, the concept of supply chain resilience has been proposed to combat the risk of disruption, and it is believed that supply chain resilience can help companies survive crises, cope with surprises and achieve growth. However, most of the existing studies have focused on constructing supply chain resilience from the perspective of dynamic capabilities, while in real-life situations, cognition can generate different behavioural decisions, which in turn affect the formation of corporate capabilities. However, few studies have investigated the mechanisms of resilience building from a cognitive perspective, and it is unclear whether and what role executive team cognition plays in crisis situations, and whether it can help companies build supply chain resilience.Secondly, most of the existing studies focus on supply chain management to analyse the specific measures that companies take to cope with the risk of disruption, but they have not yet been extended to explore the construction of resilience from the perspective of supply chain governance. To further investigate the impact of cognition on resilience building, this paper constructs a research logic based on "cognition-behaviour-performance" in the context of corporate emergency governance,in order to investigate the mechanism of the influence of executive team cognition on supply chain resilience. To this end, this paper explores the following four questions to explore the mechanism of executive team cognition on the construction of supply chain resilience,in order to provide an effective reference for supply chain emergency management:(1)under the supply chain network chain structure, what kind of linkage effect does executive team cognition as a driving factor have with other organizational behaviors, which in turn forms the construction path of high supply chain resilience;(2)in the relationship between cognition and(2)the relationship between cognition and behaviour, and the extent to which they match each other has an impact on supply chain resilience;(3)whether the cognition of the executive team has a positive effect on the sustainability performance of supply chain resilience;(4)whether the different attitudes of decision makers towards risk under contingencies affect the decision making under the flexible contract, and whether the robustness of the supply chain system can be achieved for the purpose of resilient governance. In order to explore the above issues, this paper firstly reviews the current state of research on supply chain emergency governance and sorts out supply chain risk management theory, executive cognition theory and dynamic capability theory to provide basic theoretical support for the analysis of how executive team cognition acts on supply chain resilience.Secondly, the mechanism of the relationship between cognition and behaviour on supply chain resilience is explored.Due to the complexity of the supply chain structure, its emergency management does not rely on a single factor to solve, but relies on a multi-party collaborative processing mechanism, and therefore cannot simply use linear thinking to study the emergency management of the supply chain.Based on the Necessary Conditions Analysis(NCA)method and the Qualitative Comparative Analysis(QCA)method with fuzzy sets, the study analyses the group effects of five drivers at the cognitive level of the executive team and the behavioural level of the supply chain organisation, and derives four antecedent groupings(paths)for building a high degree of supply chain resilience;at the same time,it defines four ways of matching the cognitive and emergency strategies of the executive team, and clarifies the " To further investigate the mechanism of "cognitive-behavioural-performance",this paper explores the role of cognitive ability and cognitive heterogeneity on the economic, social and environmental sustainability of supply chains along the main line of TMT cognitive development. Finally, the M-CVaR method is used to measure the risk preferences of manufacturers and sellers, and the optimal order quantity of two-way option contracts for supply chains at different times is discussed to reveal the role of decision makers’ risk perceptions and flexible contracts on supply chain governance. The main findings of the study include:(1)there are four pathways that can effectively support the creation of a high degree of supply chain resilience,i.e.supply chain behavioural tacit dominance(Group 1:CI*CA*BU*SC*SP*~CR),cognitive flexibility leadership(Group 2:CF*CI*CA*SC*SP*~CR),cognitive and behavioural synergy(Group 3a:CF*Cl*CA*BU*SC*CR and Configuration 3b:CF*CI*CA*BU*SP*CR).Meanwhile,in the process of building supply chain resilience, there are alternating relationships between normative consensus and spontaneous improvisation;complementary relationships between cognitive flexibility, behavioral tacit understanding and normative consensus and cross-organizational improvisation;and substitution effects between behavioral tacit understanding and creativity when executive team cognition is an absolute presence condition;(2)the study shows that high-high matches between executive team cognition and risk contingency strategy behavior are more effective than mismatches(3)Overall,executive team cognitive heterogeneity and cognitive ability have a significant positive effect on sustainable supply chain performance;executive team cognitive ability and cognitive heterogeneity have a significant positive effect on supply chain contingency governance mechanism;contingency governance mechanism has a positive effect on sustainable supply chain performance. There is a positive effect of emergency governance mechanism on sustainable supply chain performance.Meanwhile, early warning mechanism plays a mediating role in the relationship between executive team cognition and supply chain sustainable performance, response mechanism plays a mediating role in the relationship between executive team cognition and supply chain economic and environmental performance, while recovery mechanism plays a mediating role in the relationship between executive team cognitive ability and supply chain sustainable performance. Finally, environmental complexity positively moderates the relationship between executive team cognition and contingency governance mechanisms;environmental dynamics play a positive moderating role in the process of executive team cognition exerting its effect on sustainable supply chain performance;(4)Under the condition of bilateral risk preferences of supply chain decision makers, sellers increase flexibility in the flow of commodity purchases by shifting risk through the purchase of manufacturers’two-way option contracts, and improve the decision making ability under the risk of disruption, achieving dynamic equilibrium and realizing the supply chain resilience construction. This paper has the following innovations:(1)Innovation in research perspective:the research starts from the perspective of the cognition of the executive team, based on the research logic of "cognition-behaviour-performance",and explores the mechanism of the cognition and behaviour of decision-makers on the resilience and performance of the supply chain. It not only makes up for the shortcomings of the existing research, but also further improves the research findings under the emergency supply chain governance system.(2)Innovation of research method:Different from the single-dimensional research on the influence of supply chain resilience, this paper analyzes from the perspective of multi-dimensional grouping, and adopts a combination of qualitative comparative analysis(QCA)and necessary condition analysis(NCA)to verify the complex relationship of the path of building supply chain resilience.(3)Innovation in research content:Relying on the advanced research model of "static+dynamic",this study not only explores the influence mechanism of executive team perception on supply chain resilience in emergency situations, but also introduces a risk measurement model in the time dimension to dynamically study how the supply chain achieves a new equilibrium under the risk resistance model. It further guides the formation and development of supply chain resilience.Based on the research logic of "cognition-behaviour-performance",this paper explores the mechanism of cognition of executive teams on the construction of resilience from the perspective of supply chain emergency governance. The study identifies multiple pathways to build high levels of supply chain resilience through a combination of cognition and behaviour, evaluates the heterogeneity of the match between cognition and behaviour on supply chain resilience, verifies the positive impact of executive team cognition on sustainable supply chain performance, and finally illustrates the process of resilience governance for achieving overall supply chain robustness under emergencies. The study provides practical guidance suggestions for corporate executive teams to build supply chain resilience capabilities and improve sustainable performance. |
