Teaching ethics are implicit in teaching beliefs and behaviors and are reflected in every aspect of the teaching process.The realization of teaching values depends on the awakening of ethical consciousness,the adherence to teaching morality calls for the infiltration of ethical spirit,and the safeguarding of teaching justice requires the guarantee of ethical practices.Therefore,a caring-oriented approach to teaching ethics research has significant theoretical and practical implications.Research on teaching ethics should follow the approach of problem description,practical exploration,and strategy construction.It requires the comprehensive use of literature analysis,questionnaire surveys,interview surveys,field observations,and case analysis.The main teaching environment should be actual classroom teaching.Through the mutual corroboration of various methods,the research can effectively avoid result bias caused by social expectation effects and other reasons,and then examine the ethical contradictions in real teaching.With a caring approach to teaching ethics,it attempts to answer and solve four questions: First,what is caring? What is teaching ethics? What is the inherent connection and transcendence between the two? Second,what are the theoretical and practical teaching ethics? Third,what are the causes of ethical issues in teaching? Fourth,how can we get out of the current ethical dilemma in teaching? How can a caring approach guide the development of teaching ethics?Caring originates from human emotions and spirit,and manifests in human actions.Caring can be divided into natural caring and ethical caring based on whether moral efforts are needed.Caring consists of elements such as understanding,patience,honesty,trust,and hope.It guides care providers and care recipients to establish a good ethical relationship and achieve effective caring interaction.Caring has characteristics such as relational,integrated,situational,and practical.The objects of caring include self-care and group care,material world care and spiritual world care,kinship care and universal care,and present care and future care.Because caring is an ethical nature,value,responsibility,and interaction,viewing teaching ethics issues with a caring perspective can not only grasp the value of teaching but also highlight the value of caring.The ethics of teaching refer to the ethical concepts,norms and practices that should be adhered to in the specific social activity of teaching.It is a value-oriented,moral standard and normative guideline.A caring approach to teaching ethics should be oriented towards promoting goodness,fostering interactive relationships,and dynamic development.Care is not only a theoretical orientation,but also a natural emotion,a standpoint,and a mode of behavior that applies theory to teaching practice.Building upon the Western care theory and Chinese kindheartedness thought,the "new" caring approach,which combines domestic and foreign teaching experiences,is a transcendence of previous research paradigms and value orientations.To better understand the destination,we must know the path we took.By tracing the development of the care-oriented teaching ethics in both Eastern and Western cultures,we can analyze the ethical thoughts behind caring in teaching.Our analysis shows that Chinese teaching ethics emphasize virtues,inheritance,unity of politics and religion,empirical knowledge,and the integration of theory and practice.Meanwhile,Western teaching ethics focus on human-centeredness,individualism,rational values,and concrete norms.Both cultures demonstrate care and concern for survival and life,the growth and moral development of individuals,and the factors and laws behind teaching.From a caring perspective,examining real classroom teaching activities reveals that current teaching ethics face issues such as a need for greater ethical awareness,an urgent need to cultivate ethical spirit,and a low level of ethical pursuit.In terms of teaching ethics attitudes,there are deviations in teaching position ethics,unclear teaching identity ethics,and a need for deeper understanding of teaching relationship ethics.In terms of teaching ethics practice,there are challenges such as slightly outdated ethical practices in the teaching process,neglect of ethical considerations in the teaching environment,conflicts in ethical considerations for teaching technology,and a still relatively unrestrained approach to teaching management ethics.The root cause of these dilemmas lies in the lack of care,resulting from the impedance between efficiency pursuit and ethical values,the divergence between technological application and ethical implementation,and the collision between traditional concepts and modern thinking in the process of social development.The lack of care for oneself among teaching subjects also contributes to the hidden concerns in the development of teaching ethics,the sluggishness of teaching subject ethics,and the limitations of teaching institution governance,hindering the realistic development of teaching ethics.Modern teaching requires an orientation of care in exploring and constructing teaching ethics.Firstly,it involves continuing to care about the local nature of teaching ethics,including the ethical implications of caring for emotions,the importance of caring for differences in teaching ethics,and the promotion of ethical development under the care of kindheartedness.Secondly,it involves highlighting the timeliness of teaching ethics,including guiding new directions for teaching ethics,promoting the advancement of teaching ethics technology,and advancing teaching ethics from standards to aesthetics.Thirdly,it involves connecting with practical concerns of teaching ethics,resolving ethical conflicts in practice,realizing ethical purposes,and achieving a dialogue of life.In short,researching teaching ethics issues with a caring approach is a necessity for the comprehensive development of individuals,a manifestation of modern teaching ethics,and an important path to reach the goodness of education.
