In the new era,the ideological situation in China has undergone an overall and fundamental change,focusing on the overall strategy of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the major changes in the world that have not occurred in a century,ideological work has increasingly become an extremely important work of the Party.As the forefront of ideological work,colleges and universities have always been an important place where all kinds of cultural thoughts blend and clash.Since the Eighteenth National Congress of the CPC,the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core has placed the ideological work in colleges and universities in an unprecedented prominent position,has made a series of major decisions and taking measures,eliminating the impure from the pure.Government departments and universities work positively and jointly created a new situation for ideological work in colleges and universities,in which process useful practices were carried out and valuable experience were accumulated.The works done by the government departments and universities provided a good opportunity and a realistic foundation for the research and the study of university and college ideological work in the new era.The thesis adheres to the Marxist stance,viewpoint and methodology and has conducted an in-depth study on the issue of ideological work according to the logical sequence of elaborating the theoretical basis,explaining actual situation,demonstrating practical experience and finally putting forward improvement strategy of ideological work in universities and colleges.The research methodology adopted in this thesis including literature research,investigation research,systematic research,historical analysis and comparative analysis.The thesis includes four chapters: introduction,conclusion and main body.The introduction part is mainly an overview of this thesis,including research background,theoretical and realistic significance,literature review home and abroad,future trend of the research,research approach and methods,innovations and deficiencies of this research.The first chapter is an elaboration about the theoretical foundation of university and college ideological work in the new era.This chapter starts with the concept evolution of ideology and explores the concept and definition,fundamental connotation of university and college ideological work in the new era.Based on which,the theoretical foundation of ideology work in universities and colleges is explained in terms of Marxist classical writers’ ideology theories,Marxist ideological theory with Chinese characteristic and the reference of values in Chinese excellent traditional culture.The research believes that the ideological work in colleges and universities is a very practical concept,which covers all fields that leads ideological and value orientation in colleges and universities.Marxism represents the position of the proletariat,should always uphold the fundamental institution with Marxism as the guiding role in ideology field.Promoting the creative transformation and innovative development of Chinese excellent traditional culture is an integral part of the development of Marxism with Chinese characteristic in the new era.Xi Jinping thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era is the latest achievement of the Sinicization of Marxism and the fundamental guide to the ideological work in colleges and universities.In the second chapter,the author conducts realistic investigation on the current situation of ideological work in colleges and universities and explains the scientific connotation and essential characteristics of the new era,the new requirements for the university ideological work and its new characteristics in the new era.Based on the questionnaire survey on the university ideological work,interviews and observation,the existing problems,the causes,as well as the opportunities and challenges faced by the ideological work in colleges and universities are analyzed in this chapter.The study believes that in the new era,ideological work has been placed in an unprecedented strategic position where the successful practice of socialism with Chinese characteristics achieves a strong consensus to do ideological work well,the network platform has become the effective carrier of ideological work,the fundamental task of strengthen moral education and cultivate people is tightly combined with ideological work,which has created invaluable conditions for the development of ideological work in colleges and universities.Colleges and universities should be keen to capture and make good use of these opportunities and conditions to promote the practice of ideological work in colleges and universities in the new era in an innovative way.The current situation of ideological work in colleges and universities is good.However,the complex international and domestic situations and the characteristics of colleges and universities themselves also bring severe challenges and some urgent problems to be solved to the ideological work in colleges and universities.In the third chapter,the author analyzed the main content of university ideological work in the new era.According to the research,the ideological work in colleges and universities is a big and complex system that involves a wide range of general,long term and detail works.Colleges and universities should not only strive to build a comprehensive and systematic ideological work system that include everyone from top to bottom,but also should lay emphasis on key problems solving and scientifically understand the main content of ideological work in the new era.According to the requirements of university ideological work in the new era from the central government and departments at all levels the and the actual situation of the current university ideological work,the six practices can be summarized as follow: to strengthen the ideological theory construction in colleges and universities under the guidance of Marxism;to strengthen the ideological and political education of university students by cultivating great ideal and strong belief;to improve news and public opinion work and management with online media being the major focus,to build a high-quality faculty with good moral character;to strengthen the college and university culture construction with the core socialist values leading the way;to strengthen the CPC’s overall leadership in principle of that The Party in charge of ideology publicity.In the fourth chapter,the author explores the promotion methods of ideological work in colleges and universities in the new era.By sorting out the working principles and tasks of ideological work in colleges and universities,the author puts forward practical strategies and suggestions for strengthening the current ideological work in colleges and universities.The research believes that in the new era,colleges and universities should lay emphasis on fulfilling the fundamental task of consolidate the guiding position of Marxism in the ideological field and the common ideological foundation of the whole party and the whole nation to be united as one and fight together,accomplish their mission task of the Party’s ideological the following six aspects,including the construction of ideological theory in colleges and universities,ideological and political education of college students,news and public opinion work and management,construction of high-quality faculty,construction of college and university culture and strengthening the CPC’s overall leadership of ideological work.On this basis,the colleges and universities should focus on improving and perfecting mechanisms including organization guarantee,education and guidance,supervision and prevention,assessment and incentives,team building,and comparison and reference,to make solid progress in all aspects of ideological work.This will be a long-term and a systematic project that needs to be adjusted and innovated timely according to the changing conditions of the times and the improvement of the cognitive level.The viewpoints of this thesis are summarized in the conclusion part.Based on the current situation and looking forward to the future,the author proposes that colleges and universities in new era should focus on the following four aspects to promote the transformation of ideological work,namely: strengthening the sense of
